On April 13, the 2014 Happy Kids Day Kickoff took place at the Cupertino Quinlan Center. It announced the upcoming Happy Kids Day, which is to be held on August 23 at the Memorial Park in Cupertino, CA. The Taiwanese Volunteer Group, who hosts the event, invited Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy to be the opening of the kickoff with their performance of the "Celestial Horse Dance". As it is the Year of the Horse in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, Tai Ji Men brought their powerful performance so that the audience could be energized and charge forward like horses. Tai Ji Men also brought the movement “An Era of Conscience” for people’s participation at the event.

In the past, Happy Kids Day has included a wide range of activities and performances, enlarging the event every year. An increasingly successful event, more than 30 thousand attendees showed up at it last year. Happy Kids Day has many booths filled with diverse games, activities, and performances, to let children gain multicultural experience and create a memorable childhood. The event also helps adults rediscover their inner child, spreads love, utilizes culture exchange to spread wisdom, and in turn creates harmony.

Shirley Cheng, President of the Taiwanese Volunteer Group, Mark Chang, Happy Kids Day Chairman, Orrin Mahoney, Cupertino Councilman, Myra Wu, Director of Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco (Sunnyvale), and Frank Hong, President of Hong’s Foundation, were all invited onstage to show the hand gesture of "An Era of Conscience" and express their support by saying the slogan "Protect the conscience in our hearts, create an era of love and peace."

Shirley Cheng was very pleased that Tai Ji Men took part of the event and brought their youth members for the performance. She expressed that both groups carry the same mission: “We also want to bring this kind of energy and share our feelings about this world with others, so we are hoping that Tai Ji Men can work together with our group.”

Mark Chang stated that the “An Era of Conscience” is a very positive and beneficial movement. “This correlates with our Happy Kids Day event as, through our event, our biggest goal is to spread happiness.”

Orrin Mahoney felt happy that he had the opportunity to attend the “An Era of Conscience” movement. “Whether one is playing, having fun, or working in the community, it has to come from your heart, and that’s where the conscience starts.”
